How long can they hold ice with only 1/4 filled with ice, not sure about everyone but I take more than just 2 water bottles while camping .

Drain your water to a level below the point where certain foods inside will get ruined or contaminate other contents if compromised. An open package of bacon, for example.

I paid $85 for my Lifetime cooler compared to the Kong at over $200. The Lifetime is an excellent value.

I've never had ice to stay in my Grizzly Cooler more than three days. I'll never buy another one.

ayo what about a combination of like a brick of dry ice on the bottom with a layer of normal ice cubes covering it? would that be a more viable way to idk keep the internal cooler for a longer period of time?

Thanks. My interest is a personal cooler to take to the park, one maybe two people. I now carry a yeti small bag (one frozen water bottle to keep two gatorade bottles cool), my sports equipment bag and a small folding chair, so my hands are busy. I play outdoor sports, so the cooler should be wheeled so my sports equipment (with a small fold chair) and cooler could be transported easily. Often played on 90 degree days with no shade and i’m in the sun for 6 hours or so. I looked at the yeti 24 at $250 and no wheels (ugh). Otherwise every quality cooler is meant for longer stays. I liked the evolution 25 qt but even that was too big for one person (i wrote evolution asking them to make a smaller cooler). I looked at a igloo latitude 16 but didn’t see any reviews, also didn’t see it in stock (at target). I’d like to also take the cooler to outdoor concerts (wine bottle, snacks)

RTIC's are heavy! I personally will go Kenai, its 28 lbs vs 36 and every pound counts when those coolers are loaded up! Plus Made in The USA and only about 30 bucks more than Rtic!

I have a Pelican Elite 70 and the ice retention is JUNK! Worst 375.00 I’ve ever spent. Stay away.

Looks like the bottom line is if you're only going to use the cooler for canned and bottled liquid beverages, then it's better to leave the water in. But if you're using the cooler for food items that you don't want water intrusion, like open packs of lunch meat cheese Hot dogs etc? Then it's best to drain. A side note. Even storing your foods inside freezer bags or sandwich bags inside a cooler that's not drained does not guarantee your food will not be water saturated. Sandwich and freezer bags leak.
